Worldwide, more and more people die of cancer. At the same time, breakthrough findings in recent cancer research are enabling ever-improving diagnostics and therapy, and thus increasing cure rates.

Significant progress is also being made in childhood and adolescent blood cancers. However, while in Germany the cure rates are among the highest in the world, young cancer patients in many economically weaker countries can participate in the achievements of modern medicine only conditionally, not or insufficiently cared for and die of cancers that are considered almost curable in western industrialized countries ,

Awareness of this has led us in 2007 to launch the Transaid Foundation for children with cancer. The purpose of the foundation is to improve the quality of medical care for children and adolescents with oncological and hematological diseases – especially abroad – and their chances of recovery. In addition to the direct support of young patients, the promotion of innovative research projects in international cooperation as well as the further education of foreign doctors, scientists and specialized staff through participation in courses, conferences and international studies form the focus of the Foundation’s activities. Education, knowledge transfer and transnational research collaboration should help to ensure the highest level of quality care in all places.

In pursuing this goal, the foundation cooperates with German and foreign aid organizations such as “Schenke Leben” in Russia, the “Tour of Hope” initiative in Germany, as well as renowned children’s oncologists and university hospitals in Germany
