Residential and commercial building Lychener Straße

Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg

In one of the best locations of Berlin’s trendy district of Prenzlauer Berg, directly at Helmholtzplatz, the residential and commercial building from 1895 is located with approx. 1,550 m². The predominantly rented building consisting of two front buildings, each with five full storeys, was in spite of its outstanding location in a bad state of maintenance. As part of the refurbishment carried out until 2015, new balconies were gently installed on the stucco decorated façades, while a glass elevator in the courtyard complements the building. As part of the refurbishment, two bright and modern loft units with a total of 265 sqm of living space and generous roof terraces were created in the formerly undeveloped attic, while the staircases and communal areas were refurbished in accordance with the preservation order. The level differences in the inner courtyard due to the partial basement were compensated and the courtyard was made accessible to the residents through new paths and plantings. After the refurbishment, the building now blends perfectly into its refurbished environment, allowing for high living comfort in a historic ambience.
